How Homekin collects, uses, and protects your information — in plain language.

What we collect

Account information — your name, email address, postal code, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see your password).

Style & project information — your quiz answers, style preferences, rooms, budget range, photos and floor plans you upload, messages with your design expert, and feedback on design boards.

Purchase information — items you order, order history, and shipping details. Payments are processed by Shopify; we never store your card number.

Applications & subscriptions — details you submit when applying to KIN, applying to design with Homekin, subscribing to our newsletter, or contacting us.

How we use it

To run your project: matching you with a design expert, creating boards and shopping lists, placing and tracking orders, and communicating about your work with us.

To improve Homekin: understanding which styles, rooms and products people love so the service gets better.

To keep in touch: service emails about your project and orders, and — only if you opt in — marketing emails and texts. Every marketing message includes a way to opt out, and you can reply STOP to any text.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services that make Homekin run: Google Firebase (accounts, data storage, uploads), Shopify (checkout and payments), our vendors (only what's needed to fulfil your order — e.g. a shipping address), Substack (if you subscribe to The Journal there), and Vercel (site hosting and anonymous page analytics). Your assigned design expert sees your project information.

We never sell your personal information.

Texts, calls & WhatsApp

If you provide a phone number and consent, Homekin may send automated marketing texts, WhatsApp messages, and calls (including prerecorded voice calls). Consent is not a condition of working with us. Message and data rates may apply; frequency varies. Reply HELP for help and STOP to opt out at any time.

Your choices & rights

You can access and update your profile at any time, unsubscribe from marketing with one click, and ask us to export or delete your personal information by emailing hello@homekin.com. We comply with Canada's PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy law.

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Security & questions

Data is encrypted in transit, access is role-restricted, and payment details never touch our servers. Questions about this policy? Write to hello@homekin.com. We'll update this page as the service evolves and note the date below when we do.
